When you think of Denton, you think MUSIC! The University of North Texas School of Music is one of the most respected in the nation, especially the Department of Jazz studies. Musicians from UNT have risen with much notoriety in the music field, and many of these musicians perform at the festival every year. The Denton Arts & Jazz Festival is anchored by great jazz music, but the offerings cross all barriers.
The outstanding dance programs at Texas Woman's University and UNT are leaders in their field of all dance forms. Because of the influence of both the universities, the arts flourish in our community. The drama, band and choral programs at each high school are only made stronger because of the music and choral programs at the middle and elementary school levels. Denton is rich in the number of community performing arts groups representing theater, dance, band, orchestra. These semi-professional groups are the strong link between the amateurs and the professionals in our community.
The Denton Arts & Jazz Festival boasts 6 stages of continuous
music and entertainment. There are 3 professional stages and 3 stages
that feature the community groups, school and university performers.
These performing artists number over 2,200. Bring your friends and the
whole family. Don't forget your lawn chairs or blankets for a comfortable
and relaxing experience in the park, enjoying your favorite music and
entertainment.
